ARGs, Education and me

I make educational resources for a living, and very interested in implementing Web 2.0 techiniques into my work, to enrich them and enhance the relevance for young learners today. I am especially interested in creating cross-platform resources, i.e. ones that are delivered over, for instance, email, blogs and mobile content, or on and offline.

This interest is specifically focused towards ARGs, or Alternate Reality Games, where the notion and rules of games, and ‘ludic-ness’ are contested and contorted. The ‘magic circle’ or area of game play is wide, with the game encroaching on the players ‘normal’, everyday lives. For example – the game might call you, or ‘talk’ to you via Instant Messaging. I would like to use these techniques into a successful educational resource, and will research the possibility of this in my forthcoming dissertation.

Then I’m going to make one. I promise.
